China Town in Kuala Lumpur is around a 10 to 15 minutes walk from Apple Hotell in Jalan Alor. This morning i strolled out to China Town for nothing more than a craving. My craving was the local street food favorite, pancakes. Now just to set the record straight, these were not like your normal pancakes you get at home in Australia. This was street style pancakes with peanut.

Apam Balik

The local dish is called Apam Balik. Now this is known as peanut pancake or even pancake turn over. I liked it so much that i decided I’m going to do this whole post on Apam Balik.

The local Chinese bloke doing it has been there for a while. In fact I would go as far as to say that he is a little famous. The skill in which he makes the pancakes are amazing. All this for around 50cents or RM 1.50. Now that’s a bargain.

I watched as he prepared it step by step and sorry about the photos, I didn’t have my camera so I used my trusty Iphone.

If your heading down into China Town do give this a go. it’s worth every cent you spend.
