The multi-award winning musical Broken Bridges tells the tale of two best friends from the town of Ipoh, Perak. Set in the 1950s through to the 1970s, this musical spanning 3 decades packs a big story about friendship, dreams and love. Both share a strong bond together but are separated by the circumstances of life with one dreaming of bigger and better things while the other is contented with life in a small town.

“A true test of a successful musical is whether you leave humming the tunes. Almost a decade after its premiere, fans are still humming the tune of ‘Ipoh Town’ from Broken Bridges. This multi-award winning musical will be re-staged at KL Pac from 16 to 26 May and tour to Penang Pac for the first time from 1 to 8 June 2013.”

“Set in Ipoh during the 50’s, the musical centres on two best friends. Ming dreams of a bigger and better life beyond Ipoh. Leong on the other hand is perfectly content with small town life. Will Ming be able to chart his own destiny when his father has laid out plans for him including an arranged marriage & coffee shop business?”

“Ming yearns for change. He wants to leave sleepy Ipoh in search of bigger and better things. His best friend Leong, on the other hand, loves the small town life. Spanning the 1950s to the 1970s, this emotional tale follows the lives of these two Malaysians as they navigate life’s waters, accepting and rejecting change in their own stride.”
