A sharp hook makes sure that the fish stays on the line while you reel it in. If you find yourself losing fish from a favored lure regularly, perhaps your hooks aren’t sharp enough. Some fish are bottom fish, and others live closer to the top of the water. Make sure that your hands are wet previous to removing your hook from the fish’s mouth. If you find that the hook is caught deep in the fish, cut the line near its mouth and put the fish back in the water.
