Super Bowl Sunday at Apple Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Today was manic Monday for most of us however in the USA it was Sunday and that meant the age old tradition of Football was at it’s peak for this year. This was the Super Bowl XLV or Forty five and thou the Green Bay packers took the honors with a 31-25 win, thanks largely to three turnovers by the Steelers however most will feel the biggest losers today were not the Pittsburgh Steelers. The biggest losers today were Groupon and Christina Agurlera.
The reason I watch Super Bowl is because of the ads. The halftime show is always a hit and advertisers pay through the roof for the thirty second time slot that is available. The prices start from anywhere from one million onwards.
Let’s first examine online retail giant Groupon’s advertisement. The ad I feel was supposed to be funny and take a spin off the plight of the people suffering in Tibet. This ad is done by Timothy Hutton and he talks about the Plight of the people. The delivery is awful and thou the ad delivers the message and giants Groupon may lose some customers, it’s sad to say, many others will jump on the band wagon to make this worth while.
The second thing of note was the Christina Agurlera making a mess of the American National Anthem. Instead of singing “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?” in the four-versed Star Spangled Banner, the pop star sang “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming?”, changing “hailed” to “watched” the second time around. On one of the most important of days, where the second largest amount of food is consumed next to Thanks Giving and yes that is beating Christmas in the USA. I saw a star mess it all up in a minute.
It was’nt all doom and gloom thou, Chrysler and Volkswagen wagon both made ground. Chrysler had Eminem lead the launch of the new 200 series. In summary we saw a great game of Football at the Apple Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It’s great that a budget Hotel in Kuala Lumpur can provide such excellent service with digital television on this one of the most important days in the calendar.
