Restaurants in Kuala Lumpur
We all love the street food in Kuala Lumpur. The locals provide a mixture of Indian, Chinese , Malay cuisines that delight event the pickiest tummies. Thou all these great stall foods are available, Kuala Lumpur does have some amazing restaurants to pick from.
Some of the best are right down the road from Apple Hotel. The backpacker’s paradise of Tong Shin is also around the corner making it a likely meeting place for other tourists. The road in mind is Changkat Bukit Bintang. Changkat Bukit Bintang is full of surprises. It may seem like it has a lot night clubs and pubs however you will be surprised by the quality of food you will find here.
The price may be a bit heavy for the typical backpacker budget but it does provide a more refreshed atmosphere than eating on the streets of Jalan Alor. Nothing to me will replace the color and excitement of street food however for my birthday I would like to go somewhere else and Jalan Changkat is a great place to find food. The area seems to be a collection of all nations under one street. You can get Japanese, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Irish Bar (but I didn’t find a single Irish Person), Brazilian, French and much more.
We choose a well known upmarket restaurant called 21 Kitchen and bar. The design is very sleek and upmarket as mentioned below and the clients are more foreigners all working in Kuala Lumpur. The typical backpacker is hardly seen. Bar 21 covers a terrace area upstairs which is more of a bar and down stairs which is used for dinning. I ended up having the Salmon which was delicious, it was crispy with a spinach and some sort of honey melon salsa. The mouth was seriously having a party eating such fantastic food.
Wednesday night is Ladies night and if you have a bit of dosh, you may consider having your own private party. This all is a 5 minute walk from Apple Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Well worth the spend and the effort.
