Formula 1 Food in Kuala Lumpur
The hype the Formula 1 is bringing is quite extraordinary.Who is going to win? Who will take pole? It’s all on, and surely people have to eat. All the food joints are busy, restaurants are full, Kuala Lumpur is buzzing. The question is, do people know where to go or do they simply go to fancy restaurants and “not so good food” and simply except it. Well, I for one won’t settle for that. The food in Kuala Lumpur is amazing, let’s face it. Even the “not so good ” isn’t actually that bad. It’s better than what you would find in most countries.
So taking in the whole Formula 1 experience, we headed off to a place on the other side of Brickfields. Around 10 minutes from Jalan Alor. As you may have seen, we had Chickenpot Chicken Rice the other day, well, now is the time for Claypot Crab to make it’s debut on the Apple Hotel Blog. Now before i begin, I have to say the drive into this deserted road, I seriously did think, where are we going? but upon entering the restaurant, it was packed. A good sign i say. We were shuffled around the back to a big round table. Yes, the Terminator makes another appearance and does he do a job.
Upon sitting down, we ordered drinks, coconut in the shell, drinking the juice was great. We also ordered a few cheeky beers, and than the barrage of food started arriving. First the pork, now this was cooked with sugar (it least it seemed super sweet). A very tasty start to the meal. Next was the vegetables, good enough as it was, followed by the crabs, the rice in the clay pot. The clay pot rice was great, the taste had the feeling of it being cooked with crabs, i even found a bit of a shell in it. Next was more pork but this time it was braised in the Japanese style and it was battered.
Now, thou we had the crabs, pork etc, this was my two favorite parts of the meal. The taste was soft and tender, the meat exquisite. I am seriously in love, sorry ladies! Special moment for me and the tenderized pork. Finally the Pièce de résistance arrived. A big piece of Catfish. Now i was told the name for this so people feel free to enlighten me. The fish was massive. It was steamed to perfection. I took a small chunk ( it was actually quite big). WOW, like I said, one of my two favorite pieces of food. Great taste and it was perfect.
Overall, I would rate this meal, a high 7.5 out of 10. The company made it a higher rating than normal. The clay pot chicken rice is still the winner in my books. If your looking to go here, take a cab or drive, around 15 bucks from Apple Hotel in Jalan Alor. The drive, you had best ask reception as even I don’t know my way around Kuala Lumpur.
